Thehraav | ठहराव : A Support Group for holding Grief
(This is our 4th grief support group)
Grief is not a problem to be fixed. It is not a disease to be cured.
For many people, grief is also not something that is recognised, acknowledged, or given space to exist. It is carried quietly because the loss itself is misunderstood, minimised, or left unnamed. This is disenfranchised grief - a grief that is real, yet often goes unseen by the people and systems around us.
When grief is not witnessed, it can become even lonelier. It can leave us wondering whether our pain is valid, whether our loss is significant enough, or whether we are allowed to mourn at all.
At Thehraav, we begin with a hope: every grief deserves acknowledgement, and every person deserves a space where their loss does not have to be explained or defended.
Grounded in a trauma-informed approach, this space welcomes you with care, with your vulnerability, and with the whole of you. Together, we hope the stories can carry parts of what feels too heavy, while the community gently witnesses and holds space for one another.
The Facilitators
Vasundhara Gupta is a Founder and Counselling Psychologist at Humraahi Psychotherapy who feels passionately about trauma literacy, working with people from different intersectionalities, and centering agency in her work. She is particularly drawn to trauma-informed care because of her experience of working with systems—family systems, institutions, communities—and witnessing firsthand how deeply they shape the client’s emotional lives. She enjoys reading, talking about social justice and critical theory, cooking, watching Avatar, and spending time with her dog, Zuko.
Vani is a Counselling Psychologist who values emotions a lot, and sees them as rich data points that tell us about how we make sense of the world. She relies on a process-oriented and trauma-informed approach that offers space for compassion, respect, and care while honouring the people’s experiences deeply. She loves reading, and talking about books, gardening and being in nature, her pets, and all animals. She also loves art of all forms, and has a keen interest in photography.
